There is a mirror that no one sees,
It rests within my mind,
And only through the broken panes,
Can the true me shine.
The one that fears to try and fail,
The one that fears success,
The one that knows no joy in life.,
The one that knows no happiness,
There’s one that hides from all that seek,
And comes out in the dark,
Where tears are shed in solitude,
And leave their lonely mark.
Another knows the pain of life,
But takes it all in stride,
Trying the very best she can,
To keep it all inside.
Another frets about the past,
And worries what’s to come,
While her partner lurks behind,
Seeking out the sun.
There’s one that laughs at memories past,
And loves the tales of old,
Who sits and listens hour by hour,
As each one’s lovingly told.
Another loves to use her hands,
To generate and bestow,
Gifts to those who are near and dear,
More vital to her than they will know.
Another lurks far behind,
And seeks to find a voice,
She doubts her old beliefs in life,
But lacks another choice.
The last piece holds one small and frail,
Who is happy all the time,
Who asks for nothing but the chance,
To walk in warm sunshine.
She loves to plant and sow and work,
To reap the great rewards,
That come from giving life and breath,
To that which knows no lord.
There is a mirror that no one sees,
It rests within my mind,
And only through the broken panes,
Can the true me shine.
